Trevelez

Trevelez is the higest village of Europe and is famous for the fact that the well-known Serrano ham is being dryed in this village. Unfortunately we were there during siesta hours, but it was still a very beautiful and cosy little village. Just a little quiet at that time of the day ;)

The inhabitants of the Alpujarras make their own colorful carpets. Every tourist shop tries to sell them, which makes a nice scenery for playful pictures.

Frigiliana, Spain. Nothing special to tell about this shot to be honest. :) Just that these Spanish white villages have so many nice little details to shoot. Minor postprocessing on this one. Exposure, blacks and saturation got lifted a bit, that’s all.

Frigiliana

Frigiliana is a nice white village near the coast of Spain. One of the many pueblos blancos that can be found everywhere in Andalucia.

Oosterweel Church

In the harbour of Antwerp, you find a small church near Amerika dock. It’s the only building that it is left of what used to be the tiny polder village of Oosterweel (1070 inhabitants in its glory days :-) ). The entire village has been knocked down for the building of the port’s docks, but they left the church there as a monumental memory. As you can see, the church lies five meters lower than the surrounding area (as it was situated in the polder).

Oosterweel Church

The church is very tiny but so nice and cosy. Not the most photographically interesting place, but you feel the history here.

Oosterweel Church

The church is closed for public acces these days as it is falling into decay.

Twente University, Enschede

Twente University

Last week I was in Enschede for a conference at the university of Twente, which was located a few kilometers out of the city’s centre. The Dutch bus drivers were on a strike, so there was no way of going to the centre, leaving us stuck on the campus. The only interesting thing to shoot was this church tower in a pool. It seems as if there is a complete church under the water surface, but it’s just a piece art. I forgot the name of the artist though. :-)

4 feet

Two pairs of feet, just after a heavy rain shower. This shot is taken with my new lens, the Canon EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS USM. That’s right, I went for the goddess of fast standard zoom lenses and I’m extremely happy with it. The lens is sharp, has beautiful colours, the IS does a marvelous job and having a small DOF at all focal lengths is just so nice. More to come! :-)

bike

I did some long exposure shots with a couple of friends tonight. Just a quick shoot, mainly just to chat with each other :-) There was a lonely bike standing against the church at the Market. Not too sure about this shot, but hey, it’s taken with a borrowed lens I’m not so familiar with. The Canon 10-22 that is, but these wide angles require some skills IMHO. Anyway, good night!
