Muriel

My girlfriend. She’s such a nice and beautiful woman! I love her so much. Since last wednesday, we’re living together in Antwerp. Congratulations honey, I’m having the time of my life!

Update: I made a black and white version as well. Let me know which one you like most!

Train

Train

I went out tonight for some pictures of moving trains. There is nice bridge over a canal just outside the city. The sky was not that interesting though, so I converted this photo to black & white and gave it a hefty vignet. Capturing the motion of the trains is fairly easy, yet, finding a good compo isn’t easy. Especially with buildings in the neighborhood.

So what did we learn today?

  • Shutter speeds of 1/15 and 1/30 work well, 1/60 not.
  • Mirror lockup and burst mode don’t go together. That’s a pity.
  • Take a book or something else to keep you busy while waiting between two trains.
  • Find out the trainschedule beforehand. I missed the high speed international train… TWICE!
  • People are actually interested in what you might be photographing. Many passers-by turned their head to try to found out what my lens was pointing to. :-)
